CANADIAN ROCKIES PUBLIC SCHOOLS ACHIEVES SUCCESS IN C&D DIVERSION - In 2009 almost a century of education tradition in the Bow Valley moved into the future as the Lawrence Grassi Middle School in Canmore was deconstructed. Follow the links to see how LGMS students used their video production skills to record their school's history and show how recycling construction and demolition waste can save money and recover recover resources to build communities. Many of the school's components were recovered for use as far away as Guatemala. Eighty-two percent of the material taken to Francis Cooke Regional Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre was diverted to recycling. A cost saving of 57 percent over traditional landfill disposal was realized.
